Central Question

How can we model developmental change without imposing rigid parametric assumptions on the shape of growth?

Overview

Traditional growth curve models assume a specific functional form (e.g., linear, quadratic) for developmental trajectories. This research explores semiparametric latent curve models that allow the data to inform the shape of growth, providing more flexible and potentially more accurate representations of developmental change. This was the focus of the M.Sc. thesis at the Institute of Applied Mathematical Sciences, National Taiwan University (2020).
